Miss you, Ally...

21 minutes ago  ·  Today at Busch Gardens, I got a face to face encounter with a gorilla. He came and sat right in front of me and, not knowing if he understood me or not, I signed my name to him and asked him what his name was. He looked right at me and watched me as I did so. It was incredible. ♥ It made me so thankful that I live on such a beautiful planet. And it makes you realize that this has all been created for you and me. I love you all so much. Find joy in the journey. ♥ Love, Me. ♥

Total randomness... my phone is finally allowing me to forward photos again....

Actually, I figured out there was a password kink between a few of my accounts... technologically challenged me... *sigh* Anyway... thought I'd post a few summer pics... Sarah came for a visit in July... right before she got sick... pretend the unmade bed and stacks of books on the armoir aren't there. Joe and his Idaho ice-cream potato. Olympic opening ceremonies food... home-made fish 'n chips wrapped in newspaper. Ally making cherry scones for the closing ceremonies and looking so thrilled. The cherry scones. Ally all ready for the fair... and no, I only took a picture... she wasn't allowed to wear this get-up out as I thought it was adorable, but prolly not appropriate attire for the kind of crowd you often find there. Tradition: Favorite breakfast the first day of school (in this case, coconut French toast)... which this year, also happens to be Ally's first day of her last year of high school. The zucch

Wednesday SOOOOO-UP!

... Loved hearing grandpa Malcolm sing the 'days of the week' song when we where riding in the back of the wood-paneled station wagon.  Along with 'the green grass grows all around'.  Happy times... =) Anyway... soup recipes... for those I've promised them to. Lion House Corn Chowder (I always double this)          2 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled 1 small onion, chopped 1 1/2 c. boiling chicken broth 1 pkg. frozen corn (10 ounces) or 1 can corn (12 ounces), undrained Dash of salt Dash pepper 1 tall can evaporated milk (I usually use half and half instead) 1 T. butter 1 T. flour  Sour cream Cheddar cheese, grated Cook the bacon slowly in large saucepan until crisp; remove and drain on paper towels.  Add onions to pan and cook until transparent, but not brown, about 10 minutes.  Add boiling water, corn, seasonings and milk. Thicken with a roux made by blending the flour with melted butter.  Stir it to mix smoothly.  Cook until thickened.
